Just In Time for the Holidays: New Features for RingCentral Mobile and Desktop

If an employee has to choose between two communications option – one is a clunky, fragmented experience and the other is an easy-to-use unified communications solution, the choice is a simple one.

At RingCentral we are continually innovating to deliver a seamless experience across any device. We’re always looking for new ways to improve and streamline workflow efficiency by launching new features for employee’s communication and collaboration needs that deliver a unified experience to the user.

To that end, we’ve integrated Apple’s CallKit API with RingCentral’s mobile app to eliminate the step of putting an active call on hold when a new call comes in through RingCentral Office.  The integration allows the user to either ‘Hold & Accept’ the new call or ‘End the current call’ within their native iOS screen, this is a huge timesaver for users as they can accept or reject an incoming call without having to switch to another application.

The other new mobile feature we’ve introduced is Paging Groups which embodies the notion of “create once and communicate always”.  Previously, customers had to memorize a sequence of key codes and then enter each code to page a single user or group of employees. Often these key code sequences are entered incorrectly or even forgotten. Now that broadcast alert or page is as simple as creating and saving a paging group in the Favorites directory.  

Personally, one of the biggest sources of irritation when I call a store to get information is being put on hold for an unreasonable amount of time, which is frequently because of the inordinate amount of time to locate the subject matter expert.  With Paging Groups, a store employee can now contact their colleagues with one-tap from ‘Favorites’. Providing quicker assistance time to their customer will result in a much more pleasant experience for the caller.

We’ve also raised the bar for desktop productivity. With just one click, any user can start a RingCentral conference call within a group message thread. Invites will be automatically generated and sent to all participants, who only need to click on the link to join the call. How cool is that? The meeting ‘host’ is automatically connected to the conference. This is frictionless and simplicity at its finest.
