Grow Your Business on Twitter with Help from American Express

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start growing your business on Twitter, wait no longer. The microblogging site where anyone can promote their business or personal interests through ‘tweets’ (messages limited to 140 characters) is now the ninth-largest site on the internet and is quickly approaching an audience of 500 million people.

American Express (@AmericanExpress) just announced a Twitter advertising partnership to support small businesses on Twitter (@TwitterSmallBiz). Twitter is welcoming small businesses with open arms with the help of American Express and AMEX Open Forum (@OPENForum), who are providing $100 in FREE Twitter advertising to the first 10,000 eligible Cardmembers and merchants that register online. Twitter’s new advertising solution for small businesses is set to launch at the end of March and is open to Twitter accounts that have not yet advertised with Twitter. Business owners can advertise their profile using Promoted Tweets and Promoted Accounts, paid advertising programs which help businesses find new customers and stand out from their competitors and rise above noise.

The partnership represents a smart move by both AMEX and Twitter, since 63% of small businesses owners plan to spend money on marketing in 2012. Some of that money will likely be spent on sites like Twitter and Facebook, given how much time consumers are spending on social media.
