The Power of Connection: Key Takeaways from RingCentral Forum Live NYC
Last week on Thursday, December 15, RingCentral hosted its first regional event, RingCentral Forum Live in New York City. It was a huge success! More than 150 IT business leaders and partners joined us for an evening of networking, holiday cheer, and to learn more about the value of cloud communications in digital business transformation.
We were privileged to have UCaaS industry expert Elka Popova of Frost & Sullivan as part of our program to share insights on IT leaders’ key challenges, priorities, and opportunities around digital business transformation. In addition, we were fortunate to have Naveed Husain, CIO of Teachers College, Columbia University and an esteemed RingCentral customer, share how he has worked to transform the communications infrastructure at Teachers College—both a lesson on key learnings and tangible benefits of migrating to the cloud.
But I think the most valuable part of this event was bringing together IT leaders from a range of industries to network and share experiences. In today’s increasingly fast-paced work environment, it’s often hard to find the time to meet new people who can provide new perspectives that often lead to new outcomes. That’s exactly what we designed this event to do —connect IT professionals with industry peers.
RingCentral’s technology connects and empowers knowledge workers around the world, and now we are kicking off a regional event series, beginning with RingCentral Forum Live NYC, to further connect our key audience stakeholders.
The power of connection is my key takeaway theme from this event. Connection is powerful— it’s the lifeblood of not only business, but also our personal lives. We’re always trying to make connections to colleagues, new friends, customers, relatives, partners, and places. RingCentral is focused on the business aspect of connection, and we strive to provide a seamless communications experience across multiple modalities so that no matter where you are or what device you choose to use, you always have the ability to connect to the people you need to reach.
From the top of the program, COO David Sipes spoke about the ways in which RingCentral empowers end users and IT administrators and keeps them connected securely and flexibly so they can get work done. Marco Casalaina, VP of Applications, showcased three core areas RingCentral is focused on to enable greater connectivity, engagement, and productivity.
He first demonstrated the power of RingCentral Glip, a team messaging and collaboration platform, that unifies the communications experience into one workspace where knowledge workers can message team members, share files, place voice/video calls, and start a conference, among other things. His second demo was of the RingCentral Connect Platform, which enables developers to integrate communications into other business applications they are using, such as Office 365, G Suite, Salesforce, and Zendesk. With communications embedded into other applications, knowledge workers can connect more easily with the tools they need to be successful in the workplace. Lastly, Marco demonstrated RingCentral’s global network, touching on the 30+ countries where RingCentral provides a localized, in-country communications experience.
Elka Popova followed with a presentation on how cloud communication and collaboration solutions can help drive digital business transformation. She led by highlighting how IT and communications drive a competitive advantage, causing a technology convergence that results in more connected work.
She also shared results from a survey of IT professionals delineating that on average 35% have already moved various business functions to the cloud, with three-quarters of respondents saying they will move a significant portion of their IT to the cloud by 2018.
The program closed with Naveed’s personal story of cloud transformation, bringing all of the previously shared insights to life with real examples. An inspiring professional, Naveed is dedicated to ensuring that faculty and students have the best possible modes of communication. Engagement and productivity are key components to a successful education, and with RingCentral, Naveed has the flexible collaboration tools he needs to empower greatness among the staff and student body.
As we reflect this holiday season and count our blessings for our personal gratitudes, take a moment to think about what you are thankful for in the workplace, the connections you’ve developed, and how you can improve upon them. In the age of always-on connectivity, we sometimes forget to stop and think about what it actually means and what it inspires. In the words of Paul J.
