Why voice, video, messaging, and collaboration are better together.

RingCentral Video (formerly Glip) is valuable all by itself for team messaging and collaboration, but it adds even more value for existing RingCentral MVP (formerly RingCentral Office) customers.

Here are some of the ways that using the RingCentral App pays off.

1. New tools for collaboration

First, the RingCentral App lets teams use one unified account for team messaging, file sharing, and task management—and it’s the same account they use to launch an online meeting, forward their calls, or download call recordings. Team messaging will be new to some people and organizations, but its value lies in organizing online conversations by business function rather than through disorganized email threads. Each conversation can also have files, events, tasks, and other assets associated with it—meaning they also get organized by business purpose. The app supports messaging with individuals and teams.

The app includes its own file sharing but also integrates with Box, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive, so you can share a file from any of those services in a conversation as well. Still, the quickest way to share a file in the RingCentral app is to post it directly to a conversation thread.

Meanwhile, integrated task management increases accountability within the organization by making it possible to assign work to one or more coworkers with a specific deadline and track whether the work gets done on time, late, or not at all.
