For most organizations, working remotely took time and practice. After all, the pandemic thrust us from one extreme (fully on-site work) to another (fully remote work), and businesses adopted new ways of working they might have never experienced before.

But they learned and survived, in part thanks to how rapidly they welcomed these new methodologies. And they’ll take those lessons into account as we head into a hybrid world of work.

Chief among them is the need for more mobility. If there’s a silver lining to the past year, it’s that teams will continue to work from anywhere—whether that’s in the office, at home, or on the road. That’s why we’re excited to show you our latest RingCentral video meeting features that help you stay connected wherever you work from.

Here’s what’s new in RingCentral video meetings for May 2021:

1. Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini now available

Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini

Meeting rooms are expected to be a big part of the hybrid workplace—but they’ll look a lot different than before. As workers split their time between the office and home, video meetings have a big role to play in keeping teams together, regardless of where they work.

Our partnership with Logitech aims to make this as seamless as possible. We combined the feature-rich meeting experience of RingCentral video meetings with the superior audio and video capture of Logitech Rally and Rally Bar Mini to give you an all-in-one video conferencing solution.

The Logitech appliances offer several advantages:

  • Easy to set up and manage
  • Covers any size meeting room
  • High audio and video quality with automatic framing and zoom
  • Detailed insights into room and device performance

2. RingCentral Rooms auto dimming

In our hectic work lives, it’s not uncommon to jump from a meeting room to your PC and even your smartphone. It’s also not uncommon to forget to switch off those devices when you’re done, especially when you’re rushing to get to the next meeting.

With auto dimming, the Rooms app screen will now automatically dim after five minutes of inactivity. This prevents the TV screen from burning out and saves significant power in the long run, and you never have to worry about forgetting to shut down the appliances.

3. Mobile participant pinning

Chances are that you’ve taken a meeting from your smartphone before. Maybe it was an early morning meeting while you made breakfast, or while you were traveling to meet a client. That mobility allows us to be anywhere and still stay connected.

But smartphones come with their own limitations, including smaller screen space, smaller text, and smaller images. How do you focus on the main speakers in a meeting?

With participant pinning, you can now pin meeting participants to your main meeting screens, even when they’re not speaking. This eliminates the need to swipe back and forth to find the right speaker and gives you more control over who you want to prioritize.

You can pin up to three participants on mobile and six on tablets.

Upcoming features

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming:

1. Team huddle

Start ad hoc meetings and alert team members to join instantly. Rather than scheduling meetings far in advance, team huddle allows you to start video meetings quickly.

2. Windows for RingCentral Rooms

We’re excited to expand the capabilities of Windows devices in RingCentral Rooms. Windows OS users will soon have access to all of the same RingCentral Rooms features as Mac and Android users.

3. Voice-activated controller

In your meeting room, you can soon use voice commands to control RingCentral Rooms. No need to physically interact with the tablet display.
