By the time they bought the Inland Valley franchise of Help-U-Sell Real Estate in California, John and Cerita Metcalf had two decades of experience as top-selling real estate agents. They know how to turn clients into raving fans—and a big part of that is by being accessible and responsive.
This is one reason why Help-U-Sell Real Estate of Inland Valley has been using the RingCentral cloud communications system for more than five years. Because they can use their RingCentral business phone numbers anywhere, on any device, the Metcalfs’ team of agents can always be available to their clients no matter where they are.
But that’s far from the only benefit the company is enjoying thanks to RingCentral. Here are a few others.

Accessing phone and text service on any device
John appreciates the flexibility of being able to call or text with clients and colleagues just as easily from a mobile phone or a laptop as it is from a desktop phone. “No matter where we are, we’ve got total control of our entire RingCentral communications system,” he says.
“I can even be on a cruise ship somewhere. As long as I have internet access, I don’t even need phone service. I can access our entire communications system… to do text messages, receive phone calls, whatever I have to do. That’s a super-important feature to us.”
Keeping control of the business’s phone numbers
Another feature John appreciates is the ability to control his RingCentral business phone numbers, which helps his company maintain their client relationships over the long term.
“We issue phone numbers to each agent,” says John. “If an agent were to leave for any reason, or if they go on vacation, those numbers belong to us. We’re able to re-issue them to other employees, and they can just put it on their RingCentral app… That’s a key feature to help us keep our clients.”
RingCentral even helps with compliance
John also points out an unexpected benefit his business discovered with the RingCentral service: It has become much easier to comply with the state’s data retention regulations for real estate professionals.
“We text message clients a lot, and in California, we’re required to keep a log of all those text messages and archive those at the end of the transaction,” John explains. “One of the things we love about [RingCentral] is that it doesn’t matter whether I’ve been text messaging the client on my cell phone, on the computer—or wherever—all of that information is put into one location so we can archive it.”
It’s “the best platform”
Finally, John explains, for a small business whose staff does most of their work out on the road, it’s invaluable to have a communications system that’s reliable everywhere.
“[RingCentral] works well whether we’re in the field or in the office. That’s very important to us because it doesn’t do any good when you’re out in the field and the system’s crashing. We’ve tried other systems off and on, and RingCentral has always proved to be the best platform.”
