At a glance:

A personalized, intuitive workspace built around your preferences is important to getting work done. You can better remember important tasks, prioritize your projects, manage time more effectively, and even feel happier at work.

And just as this principle applies to your physical workspace, the same goes for your digital workspace too.

Everything you need to know about unified communications, made for beginners

At RingCentral, we’re all about giving you the freedom to work your way. That’s why every user can customize their desktop and mobile app interface to best suit their styles and preferences. From multiple color schemes to saving important messages for later, there are countless ways to personalize your digital office.

Here are a few:

1. Dark theme/light theme

Whether you’re in the office, at home, or on the go, your work environment can change at any time. And you might want to adjust your color schemes to better suit whatever environment you’re in.

In RingCentral, users can choose between several different themes:

  • Light
      • Sky blue
      • Lake blue
      • Eggplant purple
  • Dark
  • High contrast

Themes are more than just a great way to add some personality to your workspace—they have practical applications as well. For example, the dark theme may reduce eye strain especially for prolonged periods of work, while the high-contrast theme makes certain text stand out better and improve accessibility.

2. Customizable tabs

Everyone uses features in RingCentral a little differently. Marketing teams might prefer to communicate over video meetings, while sales and support teams stay glued to their phones.

The tabs on the left navigation bar are fully customizable for this very reason. You can drag and drop any of the communication tabs:

  • Message
  • Video
  • Phone
  • Text
  • Contacts
  • Fax
  • More

Customizable tabs drive focus and clarity towards the features that users need the most, reducing app overload and boosting productivity. This is especially helpful for those who find themselves using the same tabs all the time or who want to reduce clutter from those they use less often.

We built RingCentral with a mobile-first mentality, so users can expect the same level of robust message, video, and phone functionality as the RingCentral desktop app. Mobile app users can also customize their tabs to prioritize the features they use the most.

3.  Personal folders

RingCentral is an all-in-one workspace for communication and collaboration. But with multiple teams and projects to juggle between, keeping track of your conversations can get messy.

Personal folders make it easy to keep all those conversations organized. You can customize the names and colors of each folder, can easily drag conversations to a folder, and rearrange folders, direct messages, and favorites to best suit your needs.

Personal folders will be coming to the RingCentral mobile app soon.

4. Bookmarks

Whether it’s an important task or a helpful link, there are some messages you’ll need to refer to again later. But if they exist deep within a conversation thread, you’ll probably waste a lot of time trying to find it when you need it.

Bookmarks eliminate this problem by allowing you to choose which messages you want to save. Once you bookmark a message, it appears along with your other bookmarks in the left navigation bar, where you can click to see it anytime.

Bonus: The Resource Center now with in-app tours

The desktop app is full of capabilities and features you might not know about yet. Luckily, you can learn about and explore these capabilities without ever having to leave the app.

The Resource Center is your ultimate guide to everything about the app. Use the Resource Center to search how-to articles, get help from the community, and even contact RingCentral for support.

New to the desktop app, the Resource Center now also has guided in-app tours that take you step-by-step through a specific request. For example, you can get a live walkthrough of how to connect your Microsoft or Google calendar or see how to set up your own personal folders.

Work your way

Hybrid work is the future, and it’s also a move towards greater flexibility, empowering employees to do their best work and to do it their way.

But unleashing optimal flexibility isn’t just about location and hours. RingCentral’s customizable app gives workers the tools to organize their digital workspaces based on their needs and preferences, so they can get the job done the way they do it best.
