Highlights:

We are incredibly proud and excited to receive one of Built In’s brand new LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Awards. Winning companies were honored for “taking specific actions to create welcoming environments for LGBTQIA+ and all employees, empowering their people to be their most authentic selves at work,”  which is certainly a point of emphasis in our RingCentral  culture.

An esteemed panel of nine leaders in tech, all advocates themselves, served as judges, who had to sift through entries from hundreds of companies. In the end, only 25 made the cut, and RingCentral was among them. “The winners of our LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Awards Program represent standard-bearers for DEI, moving the tech industry closer to the human-centered future of work all people deserve,” says Built In’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sheridan Orr.  “These companies remind us that change is predicated on sustained and substantive action, not just words. We look forward to seeing how they continue to foster DEI for employees in the LGBTQIA+ community and, by extension, for all employees in tech.”

Inclusive every day

Maintaining a truly inclusive workplace is one of the things that sets the RingCentral culture apart. Our employee-led Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) embody our inclusive, people-first culture encouraging open dialogue, educational awareness, and positive change. This includes our employee-led Rainbow Room ERG, meant to engage, strengthen, support and build our community of LGBTQIA+ and Allies. Listening & Healing rooms at RingCentral were also created to allow our employees to come together and share stories about their background and experiences, creating a space of understanding and empathy for others while fostering safe, understanding, and courageous conversations. With RCause, our corporate social responsibility program, we’re extending our diversity and inclusion goals beyond our own workforce. RCause partners with employees to raise dollars and awareness for charities that they are passionate about.

Pronouns, pride and more

“We recently wrapped up our 2022 Pride Month celebration and our global #ShowUp theme for this year festivities centered around taking inclusivity to a higher level – exploring vulnerability, building allyship and leaning on one another for strength,” RingCentral’s Senior Vice President of Talent shared. “Winning the Built In LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Award is incredibly gratifying and validates all the hard work we are putting into making RingCentral a place where everyone can bring their whole self to work.”

During Pride month we made it possible for our employees to express their pronouns in Workday, and encouraged employees to update their pronouns on our own product, RingCentral Video, as well. We were proud to sponsor a webinar featuring Dr. Anthony Christian Ocampo, Ph.D., discussing his new book, Brown and Gay in LA: The Lives of Immigrant Sons and The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race, which has been featured on NPR, NBC News, Literary Hub, and in the Los Angeles Times. We also had a lot of fun, with activities like our own version of RuPaul’s Drag Race where our employees competed in trivia, performances and more.

Culture is everything at RingCentral—we have always believed: the more inclusive our environment is, the more innovative we’re able to be. We’re thrilled and humbled to be recognized for our efforts.
