What we covered | Session highlights

AI in your RingEX experience

AI was the centerpiece of the June session, with updates spanning RingCentral’s full portfolio of AI products.

AIR Pro (AI Receptionist Pro) | Early Access

AIR Pro is RingCentral’s most capable digital frontline agent, designed to handle complex, multi-step interactions across both voice and digital channels in a single experience. Unlike a basic call routing tool, AIR Pro can detect the customer’s language and respond in kind, reason through multi-step workflows, and be configured without engineering resources using the no-code Orchestration Studio. Pre-built templates for Healthcare are available now, with more industries on the way.

“AIR Pro is built on the tenet that makes RingCentral’s agentic AI accessible and effective for everyone, with radical simplicity. You don’t need a team of engineers to build and deploy this AI agent. Anyone on your team can do it.” Sara Hoyt, Sr. Enablement Manager, Customer Success, RingCentral

Early Access applications are now open, with limited space available. If this is on your radar, applying sooner is advisable.

AVA (AI Virtual Assistant) | Early Access Waitlist

AVA bridges voice, video, and messaging into a unified experience, so users no longer have to switch between apps to stay connected. At general availability, core AVA capabilities will be included at no additional cost for existing RingEX customers. The waitlist is open now; joining does not guarantee immediate access.

AI Receptionist (AIR) | Multiple updates

AIR received several meaningful updates this month:

  • AIR can now handle inbound SMS conversations, resolve routine inquiries, and leave summaries for human review. This is in controlled availability and requires both an AI Receptionist and SMS license.
  • When call queues fill up, AIR can now step in automatically to prevent abandoned calls.
  • Agents can display the AIR-assigned number as their outbound caller ID, maintaining a consistent customer experience.
  • AIR now detects and blocks spam and robocalls before they consume AIR minutes or reach a live agent. Admins choose whether blocked calls end with a message or go to voicemail.
  • Admins can customize what AIR calls the person or team it transfers to, for example, “physician on duty” instead of the default “receptionist.”

“For businesses where missing a call means potentially losing a customer, this is the kind of AI that directly impacts your bottom line.” Sara Hoyt, Sr. Enablement Manager, Customer Success, RingCentral

ACE (AI Conversation Expert) | New reports and compliance tab

ACE now analyzes AIR conversations alongside human interactions in the same dashboards and scorecards. Three new schedulable, CSV-exportable reports are available: Raw Tracker Output, Power Skills, and Coaching Received. A new Compliance Tab flags interactions that touch regulated data (HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR) with severity filtering, visible at the individual call level rather than only at audit time.

“Potentially risky interactions with highly regulated data are visible right away, not just at audit time, when it may be too late to act.” Sara Hoyt, Sr. Enablement Manager, Customer Success, RingCentral

A note on AI trust and privacy

RingCentral does not train its AI models on customer data, uses industry-recognized models to reduce hallucination risk, and continuously tests for bias and accessibility. Full details are available at the RingCentral Trust Center.

RingEX user and admin experience

New account-level feature controls

Admins now have a dedicated Feature Settings section in the Admin Portal where they can enable or disable a range of capabilities for all users at once, including AI features, app guides, external app launches, and notification settings. Changes apply automatically to all existing and new users, with no manual user-by-user setup needed. Importantly, this is separate from role permissions, giving admins a new and distinct layer of control.

Spam management tools

New admin controls give teams more say over how spam is handled. Admins in the US and Canada can now adjust spam sensitivity from high-risk only up to all risk levels, define how many user reports it takes to auto-classify a number as spam across the org, and review flagged numbers in a dedicated dashboard.

Admin portal navigation redesign

Auto Receptionist settings are being consolidated under the Company tab, and General Settings is being renamed Company Call Handling. The redesign is rolling out in controlled availability, with a toggle that lets teams switch between old and new layouts while they get comfortable.

“We heard your feedback that having site settings split between company and auto receptionists could make navigation cumbersome. So we’re consolidating everything into one more logical home.” Sara Hoyt, Sr. Enablement Manager, Customer Success, RingCentral

Analytics and reporting

The Live Call Queue Dashboard is now accessible directly from a new Monitor tab inside the RingCentral desktop app, eliminating the need to open a separate browser window. The same dashboards, widgets, and metrics are available, and the view can be docked or popped out as needed. No new license is required; the feature is included with Live Reports, Call Queue Booster, or the Customer Engagement Bundle.

Additional caller experience improvements include position-in-queue announcements that only play when a caller’s position actually changes, callback scheduling that now shows position and estimated wait time, and an option to auto-pause callback offers when estimated wait exceeds a set threshold.

Hardware and devices

Bulk user assignment is now supported for Yealink multi-user devices across multiple sites in a single effort, and these devices are now RingCentral certified and eligible for assisted provisioning in the US, Canada, and UK. The Cisco DP 9800 series is now available for purchase through RingCentral, and the AudioCodes M800 has been added to the persistent gateway device list for Admin Portal provisioning and business continuity during internet outages.

Integrations and platforms

A redesigned login experience is now live across the Google Chrome extension, Workspace add-on, Smart Scheduler, and Microsoft Teams and Outlook Calendar add-ons, bringing a more consistent look and feel across tools. The Microsoft Teams embedded app also received two updates: a streamlined re-launch flow to prevent accidental re-downloads, and in-app support access on both desktop and mobile with an option to auto-attach diagnostic logs. Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) support has expanded to French Polynesia.

Top questions from the community

Q: Are all RingCentral customers automatically using RingEX?

A: Yes. RingCentral is RingEX. If you are using the RingCentral app for phone, video, messaging, or fax, you are on RingEX. The distinction is which plan you are on (Standard, Advanced, or Ultra), not whether you are using RingEX.

Q: Can AIR ask callers for consent before sending a text?

A: Yes. You can configure your AIR flow to request consent before any follow-up SMS is sent. This is important because most industries and states require consent before texting customers.

Q: Will AI Notes come to desk phones?

A: It is on the roadmap and currently in beta with a few device vendors. No confirmed timeline yet.

Q: Will spam blocked by AIR consume AIR minutes?

A: No. AIR’s spam detection is designed to block those calls before they touch your AIR minutes or reach a live agent.

Q: Does AIR work for industries beyond tech and healthcare?

A: Yes. Any business with routine, repeatable inbound inquiries is a strong candidate, including insurance, professional services, and retail. The June session featured a community member running an insurance agency who is already using AIR successfully.

One thing to try before next month

If your team handles repetitive inbound calls or texts, AI Receptionist (AIR) is worth a closer look this month. It works around the clock, now handles inbound SMS in addition to voice, and can be configured without engineering support. Reach out to your RingCentral account team to find out whether AIR is included in your current plan or to explore adding it.

What’s coming next

  • AIR Pro will expand to additional industry verticals beyond Healthcare
  • AVA general availability date to be announced; core features will be included at no extra cost for existing RingEX customers
  • AI Notes on desk phones is in beta with device vendors; timeline to be confirmed
  • The Admin Portal navigation redesign will move to full default rollout in the near future
