Enterprise Integrations Architect

Location: San Mateo, CA

Reports to: Director, Business Services

Job Description:

Architect of integrations will be responsible for working with multiple departments within the company, design system processes, propose information exchange protocols between systems and build world-class integrations platform for enterprise systems. Candidate will be responsible for managing offshore team and delivery of overall solutions. This architect will need to have a successful history of analysis, design and implementations in a business critical environment. Primary area of focus will be server-side development which includes the design, coding and testing of medium to large application components. This position is expected to provide support for the production systems (3rd tier) as well some internal end user assistance when needed. Candidate will work closely with other Architects, Technical Leads, other Software Engineers, and Quality Engineers in a highly collaborative environment. Job requires vibrant and energetic attitude, willingness to perform and get things done with limited supervision.

Overall Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Desired Skills

• Bachelors in Computer Science (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of systems analysis, design, development and support experience.
• 3+ years of offshore team development and leadership experience.
• Evolved from a developer role to architect/analyst function with experience.

Project Execution and Communication

• Designing, implementing, and unit testing enterprise applications.
• Designing, implementing, and unit testing server-side JEE/Java code.
• Participates in the full SDLC (RUP/Agile), including meetings, iterative development, estimations and design sessions.
• Working with Operations and IT teams to help support production environments.
• Working with business analysts to resolve complex end user issues.
• Delivering project assignments on time, within budget and with high quality.
• Writing and reviewing technical specifications as required, meeting the objectives of functional specifications. Specifically, identifying interfaces, methods, parameters, procedures or functions as required.
• Actively driving project status reporting, issues & manage risks.
• Driving continuous improvement towards delivery excellence (e.g. evaluate results against metrics; recommend or implement changes to improve delivery practices/processes).
• Facilitate offshore/onshore meetings (planning, process, requirements, development, status).
• Ability to think and influence both at strategic and execution level.

Problem Solving, Analysis and Solution Definition

• Exhibit confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
• Push creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets.
• Quickly understand the functional and data requirements of our internal clients (Sales and Support teams)
• Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
• Develop functional specifications, process flows, workflows, and system design specifications and QA plans.
• Ability and desire to thrive in a proactive, high-pressure, client-services, environment.

Technical Skills

• Minimum of 6 years total experience as an engineer in a web environment with deep understanding of the core JEE specifications and substantial real world experience architecting large scale, highly scalable JEE based multi-tiered solutions. Strong knowledge of design patterns and frameworks like spring, Hibernate, Seam, MVC, etc
• Asynchronous Messaging Architectures, Process Modeling, Network Architectures, Object-Oriented Development.
• Hands on experience with Apache ServiceMix, JMS and foundational knowledge of SOA, ESB platforms.
• Familiarity with subscription based business, CRM systems, order-to-cash and billing processes.
• Experience in implementing business processes including distributed workflow and job control/flow.
• Experience with UML modeling and effective communication for design reviews.
• Ability to write basic SQL statements to pull and analyze data from a database (Oracle, SQL)
