Vlad Shmunis
Chairman of the Board and CEO
Mr. Shmunis brings more than 25 years of technical, product and general management experience to RingCentral. Ring Zero Systems, Inc., a company that Shmunis founded and ran from 1991, achieved a dominant position as the desktop telecommunications software leader and was acquired by Motorola (NYSE:MOT) after shipping over 25,000,000 copies through partnerships with companies like IBM, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Sony, NEC, and others. Shmunis holds BSCS Magna Cum Laude and MSCS degrees from San Francisco State University, and has attended classes toward Executive MBA at UC Berkeley.
Vlad Vendrow
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Co-founder of Ring Zero Systems and later director at Motorola, Mr. Vendrow is the key architect of the RingCentral product suite. His accomplishments include leading the development of a software product that shipped over 20M copies worldwide. He also developed the architecture of RingCentral’s patent-pending VoIP softswitch platform and its award-winning application suite. Mr. Vendrow has a MS degree in Applied Mathematics from St. Petersburg State University.
John Marlow
General Legal Counsel and Director
John Marlow brings 15 years of legal and business experience in the technology industry. Mr. Marlow has a broad range of experience in corporate, securities, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and licensing matters both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining RingCentral, Mr. Marlow was a partner at Reed Smith LLP, a large international law firm, and has been an advisor and director of many Silicon Valley companies. John received his law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law (U.C., Berkeley), his B.A., summa cum laude, from Colgate University and previously served on the Corporations Committee of the State Bar of California.
Praful Shah
Vice President, Strategy
Praful Shah brings over 20 years of experience in the software and internet industry with major technology companies. Prior to joining RingCentral, Mr. Shah was at WebEx for 10 years, since its founding days until its acquisition by Cisco for $3.2 Billion in 2007. At WebEx Mr. Shah held various executive management positions including Vice President of Strategic Communications, Online Products, Product Marketing and Business Development. Prior to WebEx, he was at Oracle as Senior Director of Marketing for Internet Products and Database Products Divisions. Before Oracle, Mr. Shah was at Tandem Computers where he held senior level positions in product marketing and performance engineering. Mr. Shah holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology - India, and a M.S. in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University.
Mike Kerr
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Kerr brings twenty five years of telecommunications sales, marketing, and operations management experience to the RingCentral team. Prior to joining RingCentral, Mr. Kerr worked with GoBeam (Covad) for five years, serving in various sales and operations roles. He also served as Vice President and General Manager for Globalstar USA (Vodafone/AirTouch), where he had full profit and loss responsibility for the satellite business in the North America region. Prior to his stint with Globalstar, Mr. Kerr was the VP/Regional Manager for AirTouch Paging, a position he held for nine years. In this role, Mr. Kerr had profit and loss responsibility for Western region operations. During the early 1980’s, he served as Controller and Regional Manager on behalf of Communications Industries’ paging and cellular divisions. Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Texas A&M and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Boris Elpiner
Vice President, Marketing
Mr. Elpiner brings more than 20 years of experience in messaging, telecommunication, and networking products. Prior to joining RingCentral in 2004, Mr. Elpiner served as the VP of Worldwide Marketing for Castelle [NASDAQ: CSTL], where he led marketing and product development efforts to grow the company into a leader in the corporate fax server market. Mr. Elpiner has held management positions at Global Village Communication, Cadence Design Systems, Daisy Systems, MCC Powers, Matsushita Electric, and Northern Telecom. Mr. Elpiner has an MSEE from the Moscow Institute of Telecommunications, and a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Northwestern University.
Jay Blazensky
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Blazensky is responsible for RingCentral’s growth initiatives by establishing new channel partnerships and driving strategic relationships with key industry players. Prior to joining RingCentral, Mr. Blazensky played an instrumental role at Sylantro Systems, spearheading business development and strategic sales initiatives. Additionally, Mr. Blazensky has held positions as the director of business development at Innomedia, an IP convergence solution, and was the vice president of marketing and co-founder of Digicom Systems, a leader in communication systems integration. In his 23 years of telecom industry experience, Mr. Blazensky continues to help companies blaze the path for developing personal Internet telephony products.
Robert S. Pearlstein
Vice President, Channel Development & Sales
Mr. Pearlstein brings to RingCentral over 15 years of experience in the communications and technology sectors with extensive channel, sales and marketing experience, including sales efforts with major telecommunications providers and systems integrators. Previously, he served as Vice President of International Sales and Channel Development for Sylantro Systems Corporation. Prior to Sylantro, he led Sales & Marketing for Oki Network Technologies, where he served in roles of increasing responsibility in sales, strategic alliances and planning. Mr. Pearlstein’s educational background includes a Master’s Degree from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), and the AEA Executive Program at Stanford University.
