Most employees would agree they want to work in a fun environment and research shows it\u2019s good for people and for business. In a recent Harvard Business Review article, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2022\/05\/why-work-should-be-fun\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why Work Should Be Fun<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Harvard Business Review author Bob Nelson, PhD., asserts \u201cFun is essential to a great work culture.\u201d At RingCentral we couldn\u2019t agree more, we take fun seriously because having fun is good for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>Fun gets results.<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The average person will spend 90,000 hours of their life working, shouldn\u2019t some of that time be intentionally fun? Absolutely. RingCentral is a company built on innovation, so naturally, we leverage fun as a pathway to innovation. Albert Einstein famously said, \u201cCreativity is intelligence having fun,\u201d and that\u2019s more than just a perception. Research shows play leads to greater learning, creativity, inspiration, and innovation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UCSF Professor and Neuroscientist <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karuna Subramaniam, PhD. reported her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/laughter-leads-to-insight\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> revealed that \u201cboosting the mood of volunteers increased their likelihood of having an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aha!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> moment as measured by their ability to solve a word association puzzle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d\u00a0 Fun stimulates activity in the same part of the brain responsible for problem-solving, the anterior cingulate cortex.
