{"id":52992,"date":"2022-08-18T03:24:09","date_gmt":"2022-08-18T10:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newrcblog.wpengine.com\/us\/en\/blog\/?p=52992"},"modified":"2025-03-13T06:38:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T13:38:18","slug":"karma-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/us\/en\/blog\/karma-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Karma Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highlights:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employees of companies who actively support volunteerism <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatplacetowork.ca\/en\/best-workplaces\/best-workplaces-for-giving-back-2022\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">say they\u2019re more likely to stay<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">53% of under-35s say <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/blog\/benefits-volunteer-days-employee-engagement\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they want to volunteer more<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> than they do.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s always another goal, another deadline, another initiative &#8211; which makes it easy to get lost in our work &#8211; especially when so much of it is performed remotely now. But we all know &#8211; there\u2019s much more to work than work.\u00a0 \u201cOf course it\u2019s good to be focused on selling and the pipeline, and all of those things,\u201d says VP, Major Accounts, Christine Pavalon. \u201cBut by itself, it\u2019s not enough for most people. It doesn&#8217;t fulfill the personal; the soul.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s the idea behind the Karma Campaign &#8211; an employee-led initiative that challenges teams to support causes of all kinds, while strengthening personal connections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>Connecting to community, inside and out<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As people shift into a more hybrid work environment, it\u2019s great to find different ways of reconnecting with the community. Pavalon and her six Majors teams across the country decided to do something about it. \u201cBack in April, a number of us were discussing issues like COVID and The Great Resignation and we wondered &#8211; how do we drive more community across our team? What we came to was: when you do good, you feel good, and that\u2019s where the Karma Campaign began.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>How it works<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major Accounts includes six sales teams spread out across North America. For six months, each team took turns on month-long projects aimed at making a difference in whatever way they chose. \u201cEach team is free to choose whatever inspires them and works for them,\u201d said Pavalon. \u201cThat could be a financial donation, a donation of time, community work, mentorship, totally up to them. We wanted people to choose causes that they\u2019re passionate about, but also enjoy working on them. If you, your family and friends enjoy supporting a particular cause, whatever it is, we\u2019re 100% behind that. We\u2019re helping school kids get backpacks in Texas. We sent lunches to parents staying at Ronald McDonald House. The Chicago team worked with Habitat for Humanity. But it isn\u2019t about one cause being better than the other. The best stories I hear are about the human connections we\u2019re able to make &#8211; becoming connected with our communities and the people in them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>Getting in on the goodness<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More and more people are looking for a higher purpose from their work, and Pavalon thinks DIY initiatives like the Karma Campaign are a great way to make an impact, fast. \u201cI think if every person asked themselves to think of a simple, small act of giving, the world would look a lot different, and I think we would all feel a lot more positive.\u201d Pavalon and the Major Accounts team plan to keep the Karma Campaign rolling, and invite all who are interested to participate.
