As he gets up to speed and learns the ins and outs of RingCentral, one consistent theme emerges &#8211; this is a culture that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">includes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> people. It\u2019s a quality that gives RingCentral a crucial competitive advantage &#8211; and a perfect example of what Pride is all about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>Ready, steady, go.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is there anything on Earth more awkward than starting a new job? Everyone wants to put their best foot forward, yet almost no one has the slightest idea how. Before you know it, you\u2019ve got that point of reference, and you find yourself starting to coach other people and share the things you know. \u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>More than words.<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The value of diversity is widely recognized and understood, but the importance of achieving <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inclusion<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the workplace is often overlooked. Managing different perspectives, experiences, backgrounds, thinking, and communication styles can be like herding cats, even for the most experienced, empathetic manager. But, given time, inclusion can become the ingredient that makes diversity work &#8211; and David sees the two together as an unstoppable force.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou can\u2019t just say you\u2019re \u201cinclusive.\u201d You have to put the effort in to really let people know &#8211; you\u2019re not alone. Otherwise, it\u2019s really easy to default to portraying something you think others are expecting to see, which I think is a massive mistake. I never want people to feel the need to put up barriers or hide their true selves. It\u2019s a waste of energy!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading h2\"><b>Move fast. Bring friends.\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a busy culture, time can sometimes be an ally. \u201cIt\u2019s almost like you don&#8217;t really have the time to think about not being yourself, because it&#8217;s so busy,\u201d says David. \u201cThere\u2019s always people reaching out, sending messages, emails, <a class=\"waffle-rich-text-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/video-call.html\">video calls<\/a>\u2014 it would be really difficult to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> be your true self just purely because of the fast-paced culture. I see it in Employee Resource Groups like the Rainbow Room\u2014 messages, videos, links, everyone\u2019s sharing of themselves, and talking about what they&#8217;re doing for Pride.
