Since the onset of the COVID-19 <\/span>pandemic<\/span>, an already increasingly digitized business <\/span>ecosystem <\/span>has entered into rapid and all-consuming processes of <\/span>digital transformation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, technology <\/span>is <\/span><\/i>business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And in the <\/span>post-pandemic <\/span>world, <\/span>CIOs<\/span> are calling the shots and becoming a key voice within the <\/span>C-suite<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that digital channels have overtaken physical platforms as our primary communication, collaboration, and transactional platforms, IT is taking center stage.\u00a0 Almost every aspect of an organization – from management to marketing – now relies on digital processes. COVID-19 has catapulted <\/span>healthcare <\/span>to the top of everyone\u2019s agenda – and rightly so. And at the heart of it all? <\/span>Digital transformation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For <\/span>CIOs<\/span>, <\/span>digital transformations <\/span>are forming the heart of resilience planning strategies. To ensure that every<\/span> business strategy<\/span> is equipped for continuity – in spite of adversity – <\/span>CIOs<\/span> must prioritize the effective adoption and implementation of those technologies that can set businesses up to bounce back quickly. That means out with the legacy systems, and in with<\/span> cloud computing <\/span>technologies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Digitally transforming towards remote working\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Organizations will require total digitization. <\/span>Digitizing busines<\/span>s requires investment in seamless cloud-based software solutions, <\/span>nextgen technology<\/span>, and <\/span>data centers<\/span>. Cloud-first policies are fuelling the way towards online <\/span>business continuity,<\/span> and ushering in increased demand for rapid data migration processes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Reskilling<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With digitization and <\/span>automation<\/span> at the helm of forward-thinking <\/span>business technology <\/span>models, training and reskilling are going to be high on the agenda in most <\/span>business strategies<\/span>. It\u2019s not just CIOs that the pandemic <\/span>changed the role<\/span> of. From employees to<\/span> IT leadership<\/span> teams<\/span>, partners to <\/span>vice presidents<\/span> – there\u2019s a learning curve in everyone\u2019s future. Whether it\u2019s adapting to new software or venturing into low-code<\/span> app development<\/span>, these digital learning curves will be central to resilience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the initial shock of the <\/span>pandemic <\/span>gradually ebbing, businesses are starting to implement budget cuts. In research conducted by Deloitte 66% of <\/span>respondents <\/span>admitted that their businesses<\/span> are trying to cut their costs within the next 12 months. And that means <\/span>CIOs <\/span>must learn to adapt to this financial deficit by putting in place <\/span>business processes<\/span> and systems that both increase efficiency and limit costs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6. The new CIO role means putting agility first\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Over the last year, we\u2019ve all learned that things can change. And they can change fast. Agility is imperative to business survival. Whether that\u2019s through changing up internal structures, switching <\/span>product development,<\/span> or bringing in new policies, <\/span>business leaders<\/span> need to be able to think on their feet. IT is an essential part of this.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fast, decisive <\/span>decision-making<\/span> by <\/span>CIOs<\/span> is now make-or-break during disruption. To <\/span>achieve faster <\/span>results, <\/span>CIOs<\/span> must prioritize responsivity and agility for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Prioritizing customer experiences<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Customer expectations are always in flux, but the <\/span>pandemic<\/span> has had a marked impact on what our customers expect. With face-to-face consumer interactions at a standstill, today\u2019s customers crave personalized, creative, and seamless online communication experiences. However, with new interactions come new concerns – customers find themselves asking \u2018will this company <\/span>sell my personal info<\/span>\u2019 and \u2018is my data secure?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Fueled principally by <\/span>new technology<\/span>, <\/span>CIOs<\/span> must prioritize consumer experience as a mission-critical factor in any<\/span> digital transformation<\/span> process. Of course, it\u2019s vital that this isn\u2019t done at the expense of the <\/span>employee experience<\/span>, and that\u2019s a tricky tightrope CIOs will have to walk.<\/span><\/p>\n

A big step for CIOs\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>pandemic <\/span>has been a big step for man. And a giant leap for <\/span>CIOs.<\/span> Chief Information Officers<\/span> are <\/span>redefining the future<\/span> and becoming increasingly critical to business operations. The way the working world works has been well and truly flipped on its head, leaving us just one way forward. The future of <\/span>business intelligence<\/span> is in <\/span>digital technologies<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
