We\u2019ve heard a lot in recent years about the importance of <\/span>employee engagement<\/span>. Managers today realize that employees don\u2019t respond to being hectored or browbeaten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, they need to be treated as valued colleagues and to have a sense of being part of a shared mission or project. Creating a better <\/span>employee experience,<\/span> in that way, often leads to better <\/span>business outcomes<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

But for all the talk about developing an <\/span>employee engagement strategy<\/span>, and the value of <\/span>engaged employees<\/span> to productivity and <\/span>higher levels<\/span> of staff <\/span>retention<\/span>, there\u2019s often relatively little clarity about what all this actually means.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How do we translate this into practice and ensure that it amounts to more than mere rhetoric? And what sort of a contribution can we expect it to make on a business\u2019s success\u2014namely its bottom line?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
