Provide awesome customer service<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Key idea: Attract new customers by providing customer service that your existing customers will tell their friends and colleagues about.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One really commonly overlooked aspect of attracting new customers is actually not related to sales\u2014or marketing\u2014at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s your customer service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lucky for you, many businesses (and probably your competitors) tend to take a shortsighted view of customer service as it relates to attracting customers, preferring instead to focus on coming up with the next great Don-Draper-inspired ad campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But your customer service is arguably one of the best (and least expensive) ways to spread positive word of mouth (which we\u2019ll talk about in more detail later) and attract new customers. Get your customers to promote your business for you<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Key idea: Attract new customers by getting them to promote your brand directly to their community.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We put this after Tip #1, because in many ways, being able to do this step depends on your ability to do Tip #1 well first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re providing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/us\/en\/blog\/good-customer-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">good customer service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, then some of your customers might even be glad to do this for you <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">without <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">any incentive. But to give them that extra nudge, try a referral program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It doesn\u2019t have to be fancy, and you can customize it for your business by building tiers into the program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, if a customer refers five people to purchase your product or service, then they get a Tier 3 reward. If they refer 10 people, maybe they hit Tier 2 and get a bigger reward. And so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key to this, however, is to make sure your prizes are something people will actually want. If you run a coffee shop or bar, maybe it\u2019s a free drink for a Tier 3 reward. Or even better, poll your customers to see what they\u2019d like to see as rewards!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or, get some extra juicy content out of this idea: poll your followers on social media too! Create videos and publish videos to YouTube (or build webinars)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Key idea: Attract new customers by promoting your videos to YouTube\u2019s huge community and\/or creating webinars on educational\/interesting topics that would draw potential customers.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your product or service is more complicated, videos are often a great way to show how it works in a more engaging and fun way than, say, making a prospect read an article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube\u2019s suggested videos feature often serves up similar videos to people who are watching videos on a certain topic, which means that if you create a good variety of content related to your product or service, YouTube just might suggest your videos to those people\u2014without you having to do anything.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"tip\">\n<div class=\"tip-heading\"><b>\ud83d\udca1 Pro-tip:\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<p>Make sure to tag your videos properly and fill out all your metadata. Do collabs with other brands in your space<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Key idea: Attract new customers by building mutually beneficial relationships with other brands and promoting your brand to their audiences and customers<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, we\u2019re not saying you should collaborate with a competitor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are often many potential partners that may have a target audience that overlaps with yours. If you can do a little research and find these partners, you can build a mutually beneficial partnership and essentially amplify each of your audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FreePeople is a clothing brand (you might have heard of them or seen their stuff at Urban Outfitters). They wanted to promote a new activewear line. So, they partnered with other health and wellness brands (that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">didn\u2019t <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also sell clothes) for a giveaway*:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-44023\" src=\"\/us\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/attracting-customers-with-a-comarketing-campaign.png\" alt=\"attracting customers with a comarketing campaign\" width=\"638\" height=\"889\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Okay, we know we said \u201cno giveaways,\u201d but technically this tip is about collaborating with other brands, not giving away stuff. If you\u2019ve got a perfect brand partner in mind and don\u2019t want to do a giveaway, another idea is to simply promote your brands on each other\u2019s social media channels or even start a mini-community of partner brands that you\u2019re friendly with and regularly promote each other to your customers and audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonus example!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This one is a little more complicated to pull off as it requires building an app, but we really like this collab between REI (an outdoor clothing brand aimed at campers) and the US National Parks Service:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44024\" src=\"\/us\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/REI-mission-based-customer-acquisition-campaign-1024x526.png\" alt=\"REI mission-based customer acquisition campaign\" width=\"1024\" height=\"526\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They built an app to help their prospects and customers discover national parks near them, and of course, the US National Parks Service promoted this app on all of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social media channels too. (Not to mention a pretty sweet list of sponsors\u2014check out the bottom of the page. \u261d\ufe0f)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a id=\"six\"><\/a><br \/>\n6. Align your business to a mission<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Key idea: Attract new customers who otherwise would not have heard of you if not for a clear and\/or unique mission that your business has aligned itself with.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More and more, businesses are getting into the business of doing good\u2014and seeing significant results for these endeavors.
