His current venture, <a href=\"https:\/\/trunorthglobal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TruNorth Global<\/a>, is focused on delivering value to an underserved market: small and medium-sized businesses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/us\/en\/blog\/2012\/12\/trunorth-global-maintains-virtual-workforce-thanks-to-ringcentral\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8918 noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8918\" title=\"Kurt Steele\" src=\"\/us\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/KurtSteele.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a>&#8220;What my partners and I found is that most customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are not designed for the small or midsize entrepreneur,&#8221; Kurt told us in a recent chat. &#8220;We set out to create a solution based in the cloud that would make companies more effective and profitable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But from its inception, TruNorth faced a unique challenge: the members of its team were (and are) scattered across the country. TruNorth has employees in California, Texas, Wisconsin and on the East Coast. Kurt himself is in Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>Kurt and his business partners knew when they launched TruNorth that they&#8217;d need to coordinate plans and develop strategy across three time zones. Therefore, a phone system that could connect the company&#8217;s 10 employees was a must-have.<\/p>\n<p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">TruNorth, itself a cloud systems provider, recognized the value of <a class=\"in-cell-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/office\/features\/virtual-pbx\/overview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hosted PBX<\/a> phone technology. Kurt noted that RingCentral\u2019s feature set was the most compelling reason for the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;RingCentral was a no-brainer for us. We took a look at other products, but they only did 25 percent of what we wanted to do,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kurt and his employees also liked the fact that RingCentral&#8217;s culture aligned with the one that TruNorth was trying to cultivate. Both provide a cloud-based business service, and both are innovators within their respective sectors. In addition, both comapnies try to maintain a &#8220;start-up&#8221; mindset.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/us\/en\/blog\/2012\/12\/trunorth-global-maintains-virtual-workforce-thanks-to-ringcentral\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8925 noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-8925\" title=\"TruNorth logo\" src=\"\/us\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/TruNorth-web-banner-8-28-12-300x75.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"75\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t want to take ourselves too seriously, and RingCentral is the same way,&#8221; Kurt indicated. &#8220;It was a great cultural fit for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>TruNorth plans to grow its footprint in the coming months. Thanks to RingCentral and <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/ringcentral-connect-befriends-cloud-apps-dropbox-box-google-docs-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">other cloud-based tools<\/a>, TruNorth can easily and effectively get things done &#8211; even with a fully virtual workforce.<\/p>\n<p>That setup is serving TruNorth well, Kurt said. RingCentral and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/features\/rcmobile\/app_iphone.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mobile apps<\/a>, in particular, make TruNorth&#8217;s remote-work arrangement possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re still spread out, and we&#8217;re still running the business the way we started it,&#8221; Kurt enthused. &#8220;RingCentral is serving us great.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RingCentral Superfan Kurt Steele has been an entrepreneur for much of his life.
