Like extensions, you can assign a department extension numbers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/office\/features\/voicemail\/overview.html?pid=blognew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">voicemail<\/a> boxes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringcentral.com\/office\/features\/answering-rules\/overview.html?pid=blognew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">answering rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Additionally, you can configure departments to distribute calls to department agents based on the number of calls they&#8217;ve taken, how long they&#8217;ve waited to take a call or their experience. You may also have the calls distributed in random order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u00a0To set up a department (administrator access required):<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Log in to your RingCentral account and click\u00a0<strong>Company Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Departments<\/strong>\u00a0tab, then click\u00a0<strong>Add a Department<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under the Department Information, enter the\u00a0<strong>Extension Number<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Department Name, email address<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>Password &amp; Security<\/strong>. Press\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the\u00a0<strong>Answering Options<\/strong>. Check the\u00a0<strong>Active<\/strong>\u00a0box to select at least one Agent.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Submit<\/strong>\u00a0to save changes.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>YES, I&#8217;LL SET THEM NOW<\/strong>\u00a0to configure the hours of operation for the latest Department created, or click\u00a0<strong>NO, I&#8217;M FINISHED\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">That&#8217;s it!
