RingCentral Lauded as Part of Economy-Boosting "Jobs Machine"

blog_job_growth Very exciting news: RingCentral has garnered a mention in The Economist!

This week the magazine published an article on immigrants helping to create jobs in America – part of a broader discussion on immigrants and the role they play in the U.S. economy. (Congress is now considering legislation which may increase the number of visas available to highly skilled immigrants, among other provisions.)

RingCentral CEO Vlad Shmunis

Why is RingCentral part of this conversation? Our CEO and co-founder, Vlad Shmunis, immigrated to California from Ukraine when he was young. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees at San Francisco State University before founding his first company (which provided the technical backbone for RingCentral).

Today, roughly a decade after its founding, RingCentral is booming – and it’s adding jobs across the U.S. Our fastest-growing office, in Greenwood Village, Colo., is the one The Economist mentions.

“RingCentral, a Silicon Valley firm that supplies cloud-based phone systems to businesses, has hired 74 staff in an office in Denver that opened in 2011,” the magazine writes.

(We are still expanding this office; visit the RingCentral careers page to see the opportunities available there and in our California HQ.)

In addition to RingCentral, the Economist cites ZocDoc, oDesk and Bloom Energy as immigrant-founded job creators. We are thrilled to be part of such an elite group, as well as an exciting trend: 40 percent of the Fortune 500 was started by immigrants or their children (according to Partnership for a New American Economy data cited by The Economist).

Visit The Economist’s website to read the article, or keep an eye out for the magazine’s next print edition!
