social management

Social media can do a lot to boost your company’s bottom line – but most organizations struggle to balance their online presence. There’s always something more that can be done, a new platform to explore and changes to figure out. Today’s Friday Five should help you get a better handle on managing your social business presence and free up some of your valuable time!

1) Find a scheduling tool that works for you

Social media runs 24/7, and micromanaging your social presence is both impractical and impossible. The solution is pretty simple: Find and utilize a social media management tool.

There are many tools to pick from, and several are free. These tools allow you to schedule posts, organize information and engage in meaningful ways. We recommend you try out a few to see which works best for you. Here are a few of our favorites:

2) Create (and Use!) a Content Calendar

Staying organized is imperative when it comes to social media for business. If you don’t plan ahead, you can easily become overwhelmed and lose focus.

A content calendar should help you organize content, publish during optimal times and ensure you’re not missing potential opportunities. For example, if you’re launching a new product or service, does your content calendar reflect this? Are you adequately promoting all of your digital assets? Amplification cannot be an after-thought. If you plan ahead and promote with a strategic mind, you’ll reap larger benefits. Here’s a free template you can download to help you get your content calendar started and organized!

3) Identify the Right Groups and Communities

Many social influencers recommend you follow the 80/20 rule. This means only 20 percent of your content should focus on your business. The rest should consist of industry-relevant content aimed at entertaining and educating.

One of the best ways to contribute meaningful content on social platforms is to join conversations. Each platform has unique ways to do this. To keep yourself from overcommitting, we recommend joining just one on each platform and participating on a consistent basis (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly). Here are a few examples of platform conversations you can join:

4) Curation Tools

Curated content is a great way to position yourself and your organization as a resource within your industry. However, tracking down the best content to share can be time consuming and overwhelming. We recommend utilizing curation tools to streamline this process. Here are two of our favorite curation tools:

5) Promote Internally

When publishing posts and posting content to social platforms, it’s important to get your workforce on board. Whenever you publish important content, let your entire team know and provide links for easy access. Getting your team onboard will increase engagement and boost visibility.

What are your recommendations for better social business management?
