The great contradiction of the digital age is that, despite the promise of new technologies to build greater connection, a case could be made that the more knowledge workers embrace them, the more disconnected they become.
Industry research bears this out: With each new communications device and collaboration app companies adopt, fragmentation and friction actually increase in the workplace, stifling productivity and adding more standards for IT to support.
A recent RingCentral and CITE Research workplace survey noted that using multiple communications apps at work has a major negative impact on concentration and rhythm, which ultimately breaks down connections and hampers productivity. Fifty-six percent of respondents in the survey found searching for information in different applications disruptive, and 31 percent of workers said it caused them to lose their train of thought.
The answer, however, isn’t about setting rigid limits on technology usage. It involves finding new ways to unite people by leveraging technology to remove silos, and enable today’s digital natives to work on their terms. In the same survey, the majority of respondents (66%) said a single communications platform would help deliver more seamless and unified experiences, and increase overall business productivity.
Unite at ConnectCentral 2018
Underscoring the importance of uniting people with technology, RingCentral is dedicating ConnectCentral 2018, the industry’s premier cloud communications and collaboration conference, to the theme of “Unite.” This year’s event, which takes place November 12–14 at San Francisco’s Westin St. Francis, will feature keynotes, sessions and discussions on how IT leaders can unite people (employees, customers, and partners), ideas, and businesses globally with cloud communications technology that powers a new era of work.
As the industry’s premier cloud communications and collaboration event, ConnectCentral 2018 provides a unique opportunity to engage with thought leaders, peers, and RingCentral experts for deep learning, networking, and hands-on training. Attendees can leverage the perspective of a diverse group of visionaries, innovators, and industry leaders via keynotes and breakout sessions. This year’s featured keynote speaker is Malcolm Gladwell, one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people and the best-selling author of “The Tipping Point,” “Blink,” “Outliers,” “What the Dog Saw,” and “David and Goliath.”
In addition, ConnectCentral 2018 features a host of new content tracks, sessions, and learning opportunities to help attendees develop their cloud communications strategies:
- Tracks: In addition to the Developer and Contact Center tracks from previous years, RingCentral has added an Executive track, and one for Women in Technology.
- Super Sessions: Deep-dive breakout sessions that allow you to learn more about the topics that interest you most.
- Developer Innovation Zone: A centralized developer zone with hands-on labs, booths, and speakers.
