In many ways, the difference between a great leader and a visionary leader comes down to one simple word: perspective. Consider the following…

When Amazon started selling books online, most observers laughed at Jeff Bezos. Why order a book online when you could easily grab one at the bookstore? When SpaceX announced plans to develop space exploration services and one day host commercial flights in space, many thought Elon Musk was crazy. How do you compete with NASA?

But both leaders have proven to have, among many other talents, the uncanny ability to view situations from angles others don’t see, and ultimately to solve problems others never realized existed. Bezos’s ability to foresee the impact of the internet has completely redefined retailing. Similarly, Musk’s grasp of NASA’s challenges, the escalating concerns about the environment, and how to make space exploration vastly more efficient have changed the conversation about space.

The topic of perspective and how to develop it has always been core to ConnectCentral—and ConnectCentral 2018 is no exception. This year’s keynote speakers have each used their own uncommon perspectives to shape new ideas and new markets. And in keeping with our overall discussions about the power of uniting people, ideas, and businesses at this year’s ConnectCentral, each of our keynote speakers has demonstrated their own unique point of view in their area of focus.

ConnectCentral 2018 Keynote Speakers

Transforming Ideas with Malcolm Gladwell

Malcolm Gladwell is a journalist, master storyteller, and world-renowned author of five critically acclaimed books. Perhaps his best-known book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, explores how ideas, trends, and social behaviors reach a “tipping point” and ultimately spread like wildfire. Gladwell’s thoughtful approach will inspire ConnectCentral 2018 attendees to think about new ways to disseminate ideas, sell products, and create lasting change.

Transforming Business with Jacob Morgan

Jacob Morgan is a three-time best-selling author who explores the future of work and the employee experience. Morgan also founded “The Future If,” a global community of business leaders, authors, and futurists who explore what our future can look like if certain technologies, ideas, approaches, and trends actually happen. Morgan’s 2012 book, The Collaborative Organization, predicted many of the trends we will explore at ConnectCentral 2018.
