Do you have a quick minute?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Great! ________, I\u2019m sure you are a busy person and want to respect your time, so I\u2019ll be brief. The reason for my call is this. We specialize in (working with small business owners, salespeople, managers, etc.) so that you\/they can: state your compelling reason \u2013 (the result of the benefit you offer).\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, Mr.\/Mrs\u2026 Smith, depending on what you are currently doing, I don\u2019t know whether you have a need or an interest in our services. Asking for something else.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes, people just don\u2019t want to be sold something. That&#8217;s a common objection from prospects, makes a cold caller\u2019s job difficult, and causes many leads to hang up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Mallory Derrick, CEO of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/durrickdesigns.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Derrick Designs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, uses a different approach called \u201credirecting\u201d. Here, she tells the prospect that she isn\u2019t trying to sell anything, and asks about something else entirely. By asking something else initially, she creates a less pressured environment for the prospect. Building rapport.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brandon Redlinger, head of growth at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.persistiq.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PersistIQ<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, provides a framework for building a rapport. That doesn\u2019t mean being chatty. The script is simple and to the point. The cold call aims to set up a future meeting, where a better relationship can begin:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get their attention by using their name. Start by saying \u201cHi, [NAME],\u201d in a warm and welcoming tone, then proceed directly to Step 2. Notice I didn&#8217;t say, \u201cHi, [NAME], how are you today?\u201d because it gives your prospect a chance to jump in and disrupt your flow. Cold calls are all about taking control in the beginning.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify yourself. \u201cMy name is Brandon with PersistIQ.\u201d This is pretty straightforward; you need to tell them who you are.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell them why you&#8217;re calling. \u201cThe reason I&#8217;m calling is to get some time on your calendar.\u201d Diving right in demonstrates that you&#8217;re a professional. Save the small talk for your follow-up calls after you\u2019ve already built the relationship.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Build a bridge. This statement connects the reason you&#8217;re calling with why they should care. \u201cI just noticed on your site that you&#8217;re hiring 10 new sales reps this quarter.
