RingCentral for Entrepreneurs: Benefits of Cloud Technology

cloud for smbBack in the day, when I was a kid, I would use pen and paper to accomplish anything. If I needed the message on that paper to go somewhere else, someone had to physically take it there by plane, truck, or  foot. When I got older, I could type the message out on paper, then someone could carry it.

Fast forward a decade, and nearly nothing physical is involved in any task I perform, personally or professionally. It’s so amazing to see the way the world changes along with technological advances, and also so difficult to see which is leading the other. Perhaps it’s both. As a stalwart skeptic, I was very hesitant about anything in the cloud when it first rose to prominence. Now I’m all in, I can’t imagine life without the cloud. It permits me to do things personally and professionally that I could never do. I can work from home, I can work from the park, I can stream movies at work (which I never do of course…). Cloud technologies are uniquely suited for the modern business world, and ultimately, it gives me 3 advantages that I never had before.

1) Affordability – Although it seems strange to pay a small amount for something every month, it winds up being so much cheaper in the long run than buying anything hardware-based, considering all the parts that would need to be replaced eventually.

2) Flexibility – I’m never without access. Even without my computer, I can always log into anything, from anywhere. At home, at the beach, at my desk, there’s no difference.

3) Predictability – Budgeting is so much easier paying subscriptions to services. I always know how much money will go out the door each month, and there are never any nasty surprises.

Cloud technologies have ultimately helped me to save money, while making me more effective in my personal endeavors, as well as my professional activities. It’s a true win-win technology.

Cloud computing applications have repeatedly made headlines and will continue to affect businesses well into 2015 and beyond. See why more companies (of all sizes) are migrating their key services and business functions to the cloud.
