Yes, it’s true: we’ve made RingCentral more secure! As part of our commitment to keep user accounts safe, we have greatly enhanced our password requirements.
Previously, passwords were numeric-only. Now, when you click the “Reset your password?” link on the RingCentral service login page, you will be prompted to create a new alphanumeric password – one with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.
You will also have to create a PIN made up of six to 10 numbers (much like your old password). The PIN enables you to access your account from your phone – if, for example, you want to use the *86 hotkey to check your voicemail.
When you log in after updating your password and creating a PIN, you’ll only be prompted to enter your password, as you do currently. But make note of your PIN. You will need it in certain situations, and we may add it to our support hotline in the future to improve the process of receiving support over the phone.
(In resetting my login information, I just used my old numeric password as my PIN – it was eight non-repeating digits, so it meets the PIN requirements, and I already have it committed to memory. You may want to do the same.)
