Communicate. Collaborate. Connect.

RingCentral is born in the cloud and dedicated to empowering global organizations with the essential capability to connect anytime, anywhere, and on any device, with voice, video, team messaging, online meetings, and contact centre solutions. It’s the flexibility today’s always-on and on-demand work culture requires and is supported with robust security and reliability.

The rapid transformations taking place in business communications are the focus of UC Expo 2017—Europe’s largest unified communications and collaboration event. We’re excited to join the community of innovators and over 5,500 attendees that want to explore the cloud, mobility, customer service, video, networks, and collaboration.

Our Senior Vice President of Operations, Curtis Peterson, will be giving a presentation on internet security that comes at a crucial time, given the rash of attacks in the last year.

It’s Past Time to Restructure the Internet for Better Security

Wednesday, 17th May at 13:40–14:10

Recent mass internet attacks have highlighted how easy it is to take down large parts of the commercial internet by targeting Domain Name Servers (DNS). They have also exposed a fundamental security flaw of the internet: a packet-based architecture that is more than 30 years old and that makes it way too easy for adversaries to map and attack foundational services like DNS, as well as specific websites and cloud services. With so many businesses and other organizations relying on the internet for their essential functions, it’s past time we beefed up our internet security by graduating to a flow-based networking architecture.

Curtis will share his thoughts on why today’s aged internet security is no match for modern security demands, and how we can fix it, including:

  • Why we’ve outgrown packet-based architecture in the current cloud-based environment
  • The mechanics of how a flow-based networking architecture offers better security, including how it detects and shuts down suspicious activity
  • Why a transition to flow-based networking is within our reach and isn’t as challenging as you may think
  • Concrete steps that could be taken to transition to the more secure architecture needed
