Work is always coming at us fast and furiously. And we know, despite our best efforts, that lots of time is invariably lost in the crossfire. It’s a bear to keep on top of it all. It’s just something we all accept. I know you can relate.
And in our fast-paced world, the way we work is rapidly and constantly evolving. But in an ideal work environment, shouldn’t we all be able to work the way we want?
Today, fast-growth organizations like ours expect quick action and results. And especially as marketers, we need to work effectively to ensure smooth cross-collaboration between teams, whether internal or external—remaining agile, flexible, and productive. So, it’s no surprise that we’re leaning increasingly harder on technology to optimize both the quality and quantity of our work.
We’re learning quickly that technology can help reduce the barriers to getting actual work done if we have the right solutions for seamless collaboration. Figuring out how to make it work in your favor can be mission critical. But, more often than we’d like, we have to modify our working style to compensate for the lack of accessibility and flexibility of the technology and solutions we use. Isn’t it time that technology conforms to us instead of the other way around?
Well, at RingCentral, it does. Since working at RingCentral for about a year and half, I’ve become particularly attached to our team messaging and collaboration solution—RingCentral Glip. Why? Because it conforms to the way I want to communicate and collaborate with employees, customers, and partners.
But let me show you what I mean.
Tackling tiger-team tasks
If your world is like mine, you are on many cross-functional teams to produce multiple projects simultaneously. These projects always vary by the nature of their complexity, team size, and execution process. Some of these projects have teams of 3 people, while others, 10 or more. Some projects run on an on-going basis, with lots of back and forth, while other projects have a shelf life of just a couple of weeks.
At work, I am constantly accommodating different personalities, different cadences, and different approaches to the assignment itself. On top of that, priorities are always shifting as projects reach various stages of completion. I am always looking for better ways to streamline the work and keep track of all the different asks of me.
And this is where RingCentral Glip helps me achieve my goals. I can easily create and organize a team around a project, which is such a basic concept but done so intuitively through Glip that it has become invaluable—and far easier than creating email group aliases. After that, I discovered I could funnel all related communications and collaboration, whether it is video, voice, instant messaging, or document sharing through this one virtual workspace. And that is a game changer.
Ditching document disorientation
As part of these many projects, I touch a lot of marketing content. There is an aversion to version control because at times it can get confusing. I am sure you’ve experienced that aggravating moment of wondering if the document you’ve opened is indeed the latest version. Yes, you can be meticulous and change the file name slightly to differentiate the versions, however that still does not tell you if that iteration is the latest version.
Glip makes it easy to find and review the latest version of a document. I can drop documents into a conversation stream, which means that the most recent document will be found at the last conversation entry. What I also find appealing is I can write context around my file in the conversation stream so I can highlight critical details.
Another feature of Glip that I love is the ability to annotate documents directly within Glip. I skip the document download, the “track changes” fumbling, the renaming of the file, and the re-uploading of the document. Reviewers and editors can make changes without ever leaving the Glip window. Personally, because of its ease of use, when I have to edit a document within Glip, I respond faster and more often because I don’t have to waste any time creating, naming, or saving a new version—I can do it all right there in Glip in real time without ever leaving the platform.
Since working at RingCentral, I’ve found a bunch of ways to get work done smarter, better, and faster—and Glip is at the top of the list.
I think it is the best team messaging and collaboration solution out there. And yes, I am biased.
Do you have a tiger team in mind today that you would like to have try this? Try Glip at no cost—you’ll find that working and collaborating with your internal and external team members has never been easier or more productive.
