HD Video Conferencing Now Included in Every RingCentral Office Plan
Exciting news for RingCentral Office customers – RingCentral’s Meetings video conferencing feature is now a part of every Office plan.
Previously, Meetings was only included in the top-tier “Enterprise” edition of Office. As of today, it is included in the Standard and Premium editions, too.*
What’s driving the change? We introduced Meetings in the first place because we see a huge upswing in video use in the enterprise (in terms of both production and consumption). Did you know, for example, that the world’s third-most-popular web search portal is YouTube? While cat videos may make up the bulk of what’s on YouTube, there’s little doubt that the site is playing an ever-larger role in brand marketing, too.
And video is useful for more than just marketing. A video conference is a lot more impactful than a phone call, since you can actually see the person on the other side of the conversation. We found that offering Meetings video conferencing exclusively on Enterprise plans limited the number of RingCentral customers who could use it – and we want to deliver the best possible user experience to all of our Office customers.
What’s particularly useful about Meetings is that it’s compatible with many of the devices you already use for work. There are Meetings apps for Windows, OS X, Android and iOS – and if you are using Meetings on a mobile phone or tablet, the video quality adjusts automatically if your connection speed changes. That means it should function well on any 4G (HSPA+)-or-stronger data connection.
If you’re already using the RingCentral app, should you download the Meetings app too? Yes – they’re two different apps, and they complement each other well.
The RingCentral app, which just underwent a major refresh, offers VoIP calling, SMS support, faxing, Presence and one-touch audio conferencing. It also lets you view activity logs and change administrative settings on the fly.
The Meetings app, meanwhile, offers – in addition to recordable video conferencing – screen- and file-sharing.
That means that, between the two apps, you can have a plethora of communication options available right in your pocket.
Enjoy this no-cost upgrade to Office!
*Office Standard can facilitate meetings with as many as 4 people. Meetings on Office Premium support as many as 25 people. Office Enterprise’s meetings capacity has been expanded from 25 to as many as 50 people.
