New RingCentral Mobile Apps
We’ve just recently updated our Android and iOS apps, and judging by the number of downloads, it looks like many of you already know this. But for those that don’t, this latest version has been completely rebuilt from the ground up to give you better performance and a refreshed interface.
All of the existing features you’ve come to love and use are still there.
Features that include:
– Make and receive calls using your RingCentral business number
– Make VoIP calls and save on your wireless minutes
– Receive inbound VoIP calls (only on Android)
– Play and forward your business voicemail messages
– View and forward faxes
– Access your company directory as a contact group
– View a complete history of voice and fax activity with call logs
– Toggle Do-not-disturb
– Cloud touch to configure your cloud PBX from anywhere
Business SMS beta
But the centerpiece of this new app is the ability for you send and receive text messages. You can now send and receive SMS using your RingCentral number or if you want to send a message to colleague who doesn’t have a direct number, you can send a text directly to their extension number. You can even send a department message to communicate with an entire department – all the members of the department will be able to receive and reply to everyone at once – pretty cool don’t you think?
The text feature will initially be available to new RingCentral Office customers, but we’re working hard to migrate existing customers so they can take advantage of the new feature.
We know some of you are disappointed in not having the ability to rotate tablets to be able to use in landscape mode. We hear you loud and clear and are working hard to return this feature to you in our next release. With our redesign, there were some issues we needed to work out before we can support landscape mode. We wanted you to be able to enjoy the new features and improved performance of our app rather than having to wait for us to fix these issues. Rest assured, we’re working hard to add landscape support.
Feedback and Bugs
As with all new designs, we might not get everything right the first time around, but we do strive to deliver you the best experience possible. We notice a handful of folks reporting that our apps were crashing for them.
