Sunny Trinh runs an international retail business, selling surfboards online with the help of RingCentral.

Sunny Trinh manufactures and sells surfboards and surfing accessories online (www.9fishsurf.com). His company, 9 Fish Surfboards, also sells its products in surf shops throughout the U.S. “We are an international business,” he says. “We design our boards here, in Santa Monica and have them hand-shaped and glassed overseas. We have a dealer in Taiwan; we've shipped boards to Finland, Italy, New Zealand and even to the Great Lakes.”

“Surfing is a passion for me, along with the other people who are in the company “ says Sunny. “We just decided to start a company and make it part of our living.” Like all new businesses, they needed a telephone service to meet their special needs.

“Our company is a virtual company, we don’t have a set office,” Sunny explains. “The five of us work out of our houses with our cell phones and laptops.” What he wanted was a virtual PBX that had all the features of an expensive phone system without the high cost.

RingCentral’s call routing filled his original needs perfectly. “When a customer calls our number,” he says, “it gets forwarded to our cell phones and if we don’t pick it up, it goes to the next one and so forth, so it gets forwarded to all of our cell phones. And then whoever is available at that time can answer and take the customer call. And that’s a real nice feature for a small outfit like us because we don’t have anyone sitting in the office all day waiting for calls.”

The bottom line is that very few calls go unanswered and they get to the right person right away.

Sunny also wanted a phone system that was scalable. "Our company is exploding right now because we have some very good products. RingCentral is able to grow with us without the cost of adding more hardware." “Another nice thing,” he continues, “is that each of us can have our

Sunny also likes that RingCentral sends voicemails to email. “I’m on my computer a lot more than I’m on my phone,” he says. “And since voicemails are saved online, I can pull it up anytime on my laptop. And then I can call the customer back.”

He has also found RingCentral’s fax functionality much better than other fax providers. When people fax to his RingCentral number, “we get emails with pdfs of the fax, so we can save it on the computer. A company we used in the past had their own format that didn't allow anyone to read it unless they downloaded the software. This was too cumbersome."

Overall, Sunny is delighted with the convenience RingCentral provides. “RingCentral allows my customer base to get hold of me even if I’m at the beach surfing.” Knowing Sunny, that probably happens with regularity.
