Filmmakers Stephen Eyer and Daneen Akers needed a flexible phone system during film production. They found an indispensable business partner.
College instructors and husband and wife producing team Stephen Eyer and Daneen Akers had never heard of fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition, until her mother was diagnosed with it. “We needed to get ourselves educated,” Stephen says. “I’m a filmmaker and instructor, so I looked to see if there was any kind of film or visual resource out there. We couldn’t find anything.”
They started a production company, Trillusion Media, Inc., to produce a film on the condition. One of the first things they did was look for a flexible phone service that could travel with them during film production. Stephen wanted the ability to receive call notifications through email because they have very limited cell phone coverage at Pacific Union College in the mountains above Napa Valley where they teach. He also needed a toll free number and a calling card.
Stephen did an internet search and looked at a few vendors. “I thought I’d have to use multiple vendors to get all the services that I needed,” he says. “I was really surprised that RC had it all in one package. It was the perfect match for what we were looking for.”

shared stories about the illness. They were on the road a lot.

If I didn’t write down a number, I knew that I had it stored in my Call Logs and could call back later. And with RingCentral, you always know whether it’s a personal call or business call. That’s very helpful because there are times when we can’t answer, so I can send a call right to voicemail but, when I really need to get the call, I can pick up and answer with our company name.”
