The RingCentral toll free number feature, to which the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO) subscribed shortly before Hurricane Katrina, saved the company from utter ruin.
After the storm, the CCANO offices were devastated and the leaders of the organization were not able to reach their one thousand employees, who were located throughout the city of New Orleans.
The toll free number was supported on the RingCentral virtual phone system, which allowed it to remain intact even though CCANO offices had been affected by the storm. As soon as was possible, CCANO leaders alerted employees that updates would be available on the toll free number.
By being able to record customized voicemail messages, which were easily created from their homes, CCANO leaders kept their employees informed on their status. A year after the storm hit, CCANO was able to retain 900 of its 1,000 pre-Katrina employees.
