The answering rules enable the service's users to identify and change call forwarding options for the virtual phone system to which they subscribe from RingCentral.
To have calls forwarded from one number to another, users simply log on to their RingCentral Mobile account and indicate the desired change into the appropriate field in the answering rules section.
This convenience has allowed many types of businesses to flourish. eBay PowerSeller, Bob Semenak, for example, uses the option to create a path for calls to follow when a customer tries to reach his business on his toll free number.
Because Semenak is often on the go, he sets up his answering rules to forward all incoming calls to his cell phone. If he does not answer, the call goes onto one of his three employees. During off hours, Semenak has all calls go to voicemail.
