You may not be sure how to call forward with any other phone system, but RingCentral provides you with an account dashboard interface that will make the process relatively uncomplicated for you. Once you have registered for a RingCentral Office number, you can have access to your account via the internet. From there, go to the Answering Rules Section and set the numbers to which your particular business number or business extension will be connected. The number can be integrated with smart phones, mobile phones and even analog home phones. If you wish, you can attach up to ten of these independent devices to your business phone system to make absolutely sure that no important call will be missed.

Once you have chosen the numbers to which calls will be forwarded, you can either have them ring at the same time or successively, with an assigned number of rings before the next number is connected. Setting your call forward instructions with RingCentral is easier than you can imagine. All you will need is access to your RingCentral Office account online. From there, open the My Settings tab and select Answering Rules from the list of modifiable settings. Once you have done that, choose Business Hours to view the section called Forward My Calls. You can start customizing the section by choosing which of your independent devices you want your business phone system to connect to. Take note that you can choose up to 10 different numbers for forwarding destinations, including your phone at home and your mobile phone.

When you provide the forwarding rules that you want followed, make sure that you take into consideration how you want the call forwarded. Do you want the call to connect with all your devices at once, or do you want them to ring one at a time? If you choose the latter, how many rings does it take before the call is directed to the next forwarding number? And when are the calls taken to voicemail? What do you mean by “no double billing”? >>

A forwarded call consists of two connections, an inbound call to your RingCentral number and an outbound connection to the phone you used to answer the call. Other companies charge for each of these connections separately and charge you twice their published rate for each minute. For example, a company advertising 2.9¢/min would actually charge you 5.8¢ for every minute of talk time or 58¢ for a 10 minute conversation. At RingCentral, we only bill you for one minute of a connected domestic call. RingCentral Business Premium plan subscribers will pay only .39 cents for a 10 minute conversation. There are no hidden charges with RingCentral!

How many numbers can I forward calls to? >>

With FindMe call forwarding, you can forward calls to as many as 10 numbers. Plus, you can have all your phones ring at once or in a fixed order; so, for instance, if you forward calls to a sales team and one person doesn’t pick up, the call is automatically forwarded to the next person or department. You can change numbers at any time through your online account. In addition, if you need to forward your calls to a new number, you can activate FollowMe priority call forwarding by phone and punch in the new number. This setting will temporarily bypass your FindMe settings—you can easily switch back to your previous setting by calling your number and turning off FollowMe.

What is the difference between FindMe and FollowMe and how do they work? >>

FindMe and FollowMe are advanced call routing features. The major difference between FindMe and FollowMe is that FindMe is a multi-number locater service and FollowMe is a single-number call forwarding service.
For instance, FindMe lets callers “find” you more easily because they will be routed to numerous phone numbers. It routes calls to multiple people (your sales team, for example) on a rotating basis. Through your online account, you type in all of the telephone numbers you'd like to receive calls on—your mobile, office phone or your employees’ phones. You may choose to enter only one number or as many as 10. If you include more than one number, you can either have all numbers ring simultaneously or in a specified order.

FollowMe priority call forwarding is a single-number call forwarding service. What that means is that FollowMe will bypass your FindMe profile and route all of your calls to a single number that you can add by phone—on-the-fly. This method is extremely handy if you need to temporarily forward all your calls to a new number.

Can RingCentral forward my calls to a VoIP account? >>

Only if your VoIP carrier provides you with a 10-digit phone number.

What will callers experience? >>

When your callers dial your main number (and extension), they will hear your professional business greeting and then the auto-attendant will ask them to hold while they try to locate you. The auto-attendant asks them to state their name, if you have activated this feature. You’ll hear the name by phone or, if you’re online, through your computer speakers.
